1st Gen Moto G Prepared For Android Lollipop Update

Those with the first-generation Motorola Moto G have received a message from Motorola about the Android 5.0 update, in some regions. According to the message, those with the handset are implored to click on a tab at the bottom of the screen that says “More Info.” Motorola says that doing this task is important if the phone’s owner wants it to receive Android Lollipop.

By clicking on “More Info,” users will find out whether they have the latest version of Motorola Update Services on their first-gen Moto G. If this step is skipped by the device owner, the phone will be passed over for the Lollipop update. It all harkens back to Motorola’s decision to move many of its core applications to the Google Play Store. This means that to prepare for the Lollipop update, those with the first-generation Moto G must go to the Google Play Store to download and install the latest version of Motorola Update Services.

The “More Info” link takes users to the Google Play Store where the application can be updated. We should point out that the message from Motorola hints that the update will arrive “in the upcoming weeks,” which means that those with the first-generation Motorola Moto G may not have too long to wait before it finally arrives.
