The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 might get treated to Android 5.0 Lollipop before its newer cousin, the Galaxy Note 4. SamMobile reports that the Russian version of the Note 3 (SM -N900) can be updated to Samsung’s TouchWiz-y version of Lollipop through KIES right now. The build in question is rolling under the N900XXUEBOA6 signature number.
This software update does not only bring the goodies of Lollipop, such as ART runtime and improved performance, but also a completely overhauled interface in certain sections of the UI. For example, the Settings app, as well as a majority of other stock Samsung apps, have received been given the slight Material Design treatment. Gone are the dark, battery-friendly backgrounds – white color seems to be favored almost exclusively now.
A beta version of the firmware leaked some time ago and treated to some handy screenshots of the probably last software update for one of 2013’s hottest phones. In the meantime, Galaxy Note 4 users are still waiting patiently for Lollipop to hit their newer phablets. Hopefully, their wait will be a short one.
Provided that you’re sporting the SM-N900 version of the Galaxy Note 3 and you’re feeling quite adventurous today, head on over here to download the captured build and flash it on your phablet.
