According to Canadian telecom carrier Rogers, Samsung is planning to release Android 5.1 update for Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge this June.
In April, Samsung launched Galaxy S6 and S6 edge both running Android 5.0 Lollipop. Now the company is planning to update both devices to Android 5.1, this June. Even though Samsung has not made any official announcement, the Canadian telecom carrier Rogers in their software update page has mentioned that Galaxy S6 and S6 edge will get Android 5.1 update in June 2015.
Rogers has not mentioned the actual date for the release, so there is a possibility that exact launch date may change, depending on the carrier and regions. Android 5.1 is not a major update but it still brings a number of new features and enhancements, including the Guest Mod – allowing multiple users to use a single device, Kids Mode, as well as full support for Google’s Camera2 API, which will enable users to shoot in RAW format. You can also set up different profiles for people and prevent others from accessing your private stuff.
There is no word from Samsung about the exact availability date, but we will update you as soon as it is available for both devices. On side news, there are rumors that HTC will update their One M8 Android smartphones to Android 5.1 on August.
