Apple confirmed rumors about Apple Watch preorders are shipping ahead of time. Earlier today, status of many Apple Watch preorders with delivery estimates 4-6 weeks are changed from “Processing Items” to “Preparing for Shipment” on the Apple Online Store. There are reports of Apple began charging some credit and debit cards of customers with orders showing extended shipping times.
In a statement to BuzzFeed News, Apple has confirmed suppliers are working hard to beat those estimates.
We’re happy to be updating many customers today with the news that their Apple Watch will arrive sooner than expected,
Our team is working to fill orders as quickly as possible based on the available supply and the order in which they were received. We know many customers are still facing long lead times and we appreciate their patience.
Apple did not provide further comments for the change in shipping times nor did they reveal what models of Apple Watch were being shipped out early. There are further rumors about customers in the United States have started receiving UPS shipment notifications confirming their upcoming Apple Watch delivery.
When Apple Watch preorder began on April 10, initial stock was sold out in less than six hours and early buyers saw ship-by times increase from launch day to 4-6 weeks. For now, all Apple Watch orders are online only and needs to be placed on the Online Apple Store. Due to limited supply and high demand, Apple has no plan to have in-store units available until June, at the earliest.
