There’s a lot of signs pointing to the release of a brand new iPad floating around these days: myriad rumors, retina displays, and even Apple event invites. Now, a freshly taken picture from an anonymous tipster has given us a little more insight for the iPad 3 rumor mill. As you can see in the image below, starting today all iPad 2 SKUs at Radio Shack are getting $20-50 lopped off their prices, which sure seems like a good way to clear out stock to make room for a newer, pricier version. And, the good news for Apple fans doesn’t stop there, as the Shack will also be discounting the iPhone 4 and 4S by $25 from March 1st – 4th. So, is this more evidence of the iPad 3, or just a retailer trying to move more product? We’ll know for sure next week.

Apple just unleashed a 700MB update of Lion, bumps its feline all the way to 10.7.3. Those braving the rather portly can look forward to bevy new languages, a new version of Safari (5.1.3) and a fix for a nasty WiFi reconnection bug upon waking from sleep. The Apple.pro claimed to show the photos of seventh-generation iPod Nano chassis with the room for camera. The site posted a second leak of the device, hints the omission of Nanos famous chip in optics. Like prior Nano camera efforts, this device loaded with less than a whopping 1.3MP of resolution, which MIC Gadget claims in its non-final form, took over exposed photos. Apple apparently toys with a 2MP prototype, MIC Gadget also muses the two month old prototype is nearing release. The trade-off is an extra two pounds of weight, and almost an inch of thickness. The iOS app brings you videos being shared by your friends on social networks. Vodio uses its social features to bring a dash of personalization to its video recommendations. In the app, you can get what the crowd is watching too. You have to configure the app around your interests, by telling it with categories of videos. You can also drill down to the categories further to select sub-categories. For example in Sports category, you can choose Football, soccer etc. The UI is attractive and good to use. You swipe horizontally to move between channels and vertically to scroll through videos. The company is now working on simplifying the channel set up and personalization process, adding more video-driven features like HD enabling, and partnering with premium content players. Certain Affinity Age of Booty a pirate-themed, real-time strategy game is coming soon to iPhone, iPad and Android devices. The company announced than an all new version of the game in the works being developed with Chaotic Moon. It includes a single-player campaign, along with real-time multiplayer and cross-platform support. There is no current release date yet.

Apple has bought Anobit Technologies, an Israeli maker of flash-memory technology already used in many of Apple Gadgets. Apple Inc Spokesperson Steve Dowling says that Apple buys smaller tech companies from time to time, but generally does not give a reason why. The company is not giving financial terms. Anobit could not be reached for comment after business hours in Jerusalem. Bloomberg has also reported earlier that Apple had confirmed the deal.

The new iPhone app Pin Drop lets users to mark location that matter to them. One or two other startups are trying out this, most notable everplaces, still in private beta version. Users can drop their own pins or they can take inspiration from the curated list feature. Each pin can then be assigned to multiple categories allows users to build up a library of their favourite locations. All of a users pin are private unless they choose to share them public. If many become public, thus populate the globe. Users can optionally backup, manage, and view their pins. They will also allow you to use apps built with the Pin Drop API.
