How To Enhance Sound Output - Sony Xperia Z2

Learn how to enhance sound output on your Sony Xperia Z2. You can enhance the sound of your device by manually enabling individual sound settings such as Clear Phase and xLOUD, or you can let ClearAudio+ technology adjust the sound automatically. You can also enable the Dynamic normaliser so that differences in volume between different media files are minimised.

To enhance the sound output automatically

  • From your Home screen, tap Apps icon.
  • Find and tap Settings > Sound > Sound effects.
  • Mark the ClearAudio+ checkbox.

To adjust the sound settings manually

  • From the Home screen, tap Apps icon.
  • Find and tap Settings > Sound > Sound effects.
  • Unmark the ClearAudio+ checkbox if it is marked.
  • Tap Sound enhancements > Settings.
  • Mark or unmark the relevant checkboxes.

Note: The manual adjustment of sound output settings has no effect on voice communication applications. For example, there is no change in the voice call sound quality.

To minimise volume differences using the Dynamic normaliser

  • From the Home screen, tap Apps icon.
  • Find and tap Settings > Sound > Sound effects.
  • Mark the Dynamic normalizer checkbox.

Noise cancellation

  • Your device supports noise cancelling headsets. By using a noise cancelling headset with your device, you can get much clearer audio quality when listening, for example,to music in a noisy environment, such as on a bus, a train or a plane. You can also use this feature to create a silent environment in which to study, work or read.

Note: To ensure optimal performance, noise cancelling headsets from Sony are recommended.

To use a noise cancelling headset

  • Connect the noise cancelling headset to your device.
  • From your Home screen, tap Apps icon > Settings > Sound > Audio accessories.
  • Select the relevant headset type.
  • Tap Sound effects > Noise canceling.
  • If you want Noise cancelling to be enabled only during music or video playback or when the screen is active, select On (Auto).
  • If you want Noise cancelling to be enabled for as long as the headset is connected, select On (Always).

Note : A noise cancelling headset may not be included with your device at purchase. When a noise cancelling headset is connected to your device, you can also select the noise cancelling headset type by dragging down the status bar to open the Notification panel and then tapping Audio accessories.

To adjust the settings to the noise environment

  • Make sure a noise cancelling headset is connected to your device.
  • From your Home screen, tap Apps icon.
  • Find and tap Settings > Sound > Sound effects > Noise environment.
  • Select the noise environment type that applies to your situation, then tap OK.
