How To Improve Battery Life - Nokia Lumia 2520

Learn how to improve battery life on your Nokia Lumia 2520. Find the balance between getting the most out of your tablet while getting the battery life you need. There are steps you can take to save power on your tablet.

To save power:

  • Charge wisely: Always charge the battery fully.
  • Select only the sounds that you need: Mute unnecessary sounds, such as key press sounds.
  • Use wired headphones: Use wired headphones, rather than the speakerphone.

Set the tablet screen to switch off after a short time :

  • Swipe in from the right of the screen, and tap Settings > Change PC settings > PC and devices > Power and sleep, and under Sleep, select the length of time you want.

Set the tablet to adjust the screen brightness manually :

  • Swipe in from the right of the screen, and tap Settings >Change PC settings > PC and devices > Power and sleep. Switch Adjust my screen brightness automatically to Off .

Lower the screen brightness:

  • In the apps menu, tap Control Panel > Hardware and Sound. Under Power Options, tap Adjust screen brightness > Change plan settings, and select the level you want.
  • To save the changes, tap Save changes.

Use network connections selectively

  • Set your tablet to check for new mail less frequently. Tap Mail icon, swipe in from the right of the screen, and tap Settings icon > Accounts. For each account, change the setting for Download new email.

  • Switch Bluetooth on only when needed.

  • Turn NFC on only when needed. To switch NFC off, swipe in from the right of the screen, tap Settings icon> Change PC settings > Network > Airplane mode, and switch NFC to Off .

  • Use a Wi-Fi connection to connect to the internet, rather than a mobile data connection.

  • Stop your tablet scanning for available wireless networks. Swipe in from the right of the screen, and tap Settings icon > Change PC settings > Network > Airplane mode. Then switch Wi-Fi to Off .

  • If you’re listening to music or otherwise using your tablet, but don’t want to connect to the network, swipein from the right of the screen, tap Settings > Change PC settings > Network > Airplane mode, and switch Airplane mode to On.
