How TO Use Contacts - Samsung Galaxy Alpha

Learn how to use contacts on your Samsung Galaxy Alpha. To add a phone number to the contacts list from the keyboard, tap Phone, enter number, and then tap Add to contacts.

Moving contacts from other devices

You can move contacts from other devices to your device. Refer to Smart Switch.

Creating contacts manually

  • On the Apps screen, tap Contacts > Contacts.
  • Tap + icon and enter contact information.
    • Image icon: Add an image.
    • +/-: Add or delete a contact field.
  • Tap Save.
  • To add a phone number to the contacts list from the keypad, tap Keypad, enter the number, and then tap Add to Contacts.

Creating contacts from business cards

Take a photo of a business card and extract contact information from it.

  • On the Apps screen, tap Contacts > Contacts.
  • Tap Menu icon > Business cards > +.
    • To select or add languages to recognize, tap Menu icon > Target language.
  • Place a business card on the flat surface and rotate the device to landscape orientation.
  • Adjust the device to fit the card inside the frames on the screen. When the frames turn green, the device automatically takes a photo. The device also reads the contact information from the business card and converts it to a contact entry.
  • If the device does not take the photo automatically, tap Camera icon.
  • To take photo of business cards manually, tap Menu icon > Auto capture > Off.
  • To extract text from a stored image, tap Menu icon > Load image.
  • Edit or add more information and tap Save.
