The HTC One users impatient enough to jump from Android 4.4.2 all the way up to Android 5.0 now have the chance to do so thanks to no other than LlabTooFeR, one of the senior recognized developers over at XDA. The Lollipop update for HTC’s 2013 flagship got delayed many times due to various issues, but a semi-final version of the official firmware for the device leaked, allowing the competent developers to compile a working unofficial build that is almost stock.
The result is called Maximus HD and apart from being based on one of the newest Lollipop builds available (LRX22F), it also brings about the newest iteration of HTC’s in-house UI, Sense 6.0, to the One M7.
Don’t let the name of the firmware fool you, this ROM is not yet another fully-customized Android distribution. Yes, it comes with certain custom tweaks and improvements, but as a whole, it shouldn’t be much different from the official Lollipop build that will have probably hit the device by the end of January.
LlabTooFeR’s Lollipop sweetness for the One M7 supports several variations of the device – the 801s (the international version), 801e (the Asian version), and the 801n (for T-Mobile/AT&T) ones.
