HTC Thunderbolt is the first device on Verizon to support simultaneous voice and data over 3G. Online sources say that the sale will be open from Thursday. The reports say that the device will not ship with the Verizon’s edition of Skype that features both voice and video calling support.
The device will be the first device of Verizon that going to support simultaneous voice and data over 3G. Simultaneous voice and data are limited over CDMA networks that have to be overcome through both the software and hardware upgrades. Verizon probably worked close with HTC to bring the feature to the new smartphone. AT&T has been highlighting this limitation of their Verizon network in their ads for the iPhone4. Remains to be seen that the Verizon’s edition of the iPhone could get the similar enhancement in the future.
