Apple plans to release a new version of iPhone operating system in this year with health and fitness tracking integration. Apple has developed this new version of iOS with the upcoming iWatch in mind. It plans for iOS 8 with new application called Healthbook.
The software will be capable of monitoring and storing fitness statistics like steps taken, calories burned and miles walked. This app will have ability to manage and track weight loss. It is used to check blood pressure, hydration level, heart rate, glucose level and etc. The software will allows user to enter details about their medications, so they could be remained to take tabulate at scheduled time.
The Healthbook application is to take multiple user interface cues from Apples own Passbook app, the software for storing loyalty cards, coupons, and other materials stored in physical wallets.
The new health and fitness applications interface is a stack of cards that can be easily swiped between. Each card represents a different fitness or health data point. The prototype logo for Healthbook is similar to Passbooks icon, but it is adorned with graphics representing vital signs.
iOS 8 combined with the iWatch is able to monitor several other pieces of health and fitness data, but additional features are not clear as now. It will feature sensors that provide data to Healthbook.
