Recent rumor is that the next version of Apple TV will not support 4K video streaming – a newer high-definition video resolution that delivers a more detailed, immersive picture. Previously there are rumors that next generation Apple TV will have support for 4K streaming.
According to BuzzFeed report, Apple will forego 4K due to issue of economics and the number of devices that support 4K resolution is far too small. This logic seems reasonable considering very 4K video content are available and it requires lot of bandwidth and more powerful compression technologies to transmit without lag, but it is also disappointing, considering the number of devices that supports 4K resolution is increasing.
BuzzFeed speculates that Apple will not jump into 4K bandwagon until the technology will become more mainstream and economical. Remember this is still a rumor from a source closer to Apple and not official.
