Yesterday, Sony posted an image on its Xperia Twitter account (@SonyXperia) making fun of Apple’s “Hey Siri” press event, which is expected to feature not only new iPhones, but also a revamped Apple TV with support for third-party game downloads.
The image carried the same background as the “Hey Siri” event invite from Apple, with a text “Hey Sony, give us a hint” followed by a couple of lines of binary code, which when decoded translates into the words “Game on”.

Sony recently announced three Xperia Z5 smartphones at the IFA 2015 and Xperia Z5 Premium is touted as the world’s first smartphone with a 4K display and is also capable of recording 4K videos. The centerpiece of Apple’s event is 2 new phones, the iPhone 6s and the 6s Plus. The iPhone 6S Plus also supports 4K video recording, thanks to 12-megapixel Sony camera sensors, but unlike the Z5 premium does not have a 4K display.
The new Apple TV comes with features like Siri support, an App Store, and a touchpad remote. Casual gaming is also a main feature of Apple TV. Although Apple TV does not have the hardware to directly compete with Sony’s PlayStation, it will attract casual gamers.
Coincidentally, yesterday is also the 20th anniversary of the launch of the original PlayStation in North America. Sony and its fans have been commemorating the occasion with the hashtag #20YearsOfPlay.
