According to a recent report from WinBeta, Microsoft is planning to introduce some new features and improvements like intelligent search, advanced editing options to its Photos app. While the current Photos app in Windows 10 serves as an adequate photo viewer with few useful editing options, it still lacks features that are found in other competing apps.
Citing anonymous sources, the report claims that Microsoft will introduce an intelligent search functionality similar to the one found on OneDrive. This will allow users to search their photos based on people, places, as well as customized tags directly via the Photos app. The app will also automatically scan photos for faces, as well as metadata for locations, and then categorize them automatically for easy viewing. Users can also tag people in a photo so that the app can automatically categorize them into a folder/album that is dedicated to them.
In addition, the report says that more filters and effects options will be added to the app, along with a way to draw directly on an image. The new editing features will also be included in the Windows 10 Mobile version of the app.
Like before, Windows Insiders will be the first one to see these additional features in the Photos app. We normal people have to wait until Microsoft rolls it out as a part of the upcoming Redstone update for Windows 10.
