The first sales on Samsung Galaxy Note 4 units are reaching reviewers and international users; the build quality of the device has been receiving praise in general. There is a Gapgate issues in some units on Korean Galaxy Note 4 as we reported early, and there is nothing serious on those units too.
The same guys who broke the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus Bendgate problem, Unbox Therapy, have made a new video demonstrating the Galaxy Note 4s gaping flaw. As the website Geek notes, two other phones with glass panels, the Nexus 5 and LG G3, also have slight gaps on the sides of their respective devices but arent as pronounced the one on the Galaxy Note 4.
Some users are concerned that the gap could make the phone vulnerable to damage from outside elements like water and grit. For those, Samsung issued a statement assures the customers that the gap was not an issue.
“The reported issue does not impact the functionality or quality of the Galaxy Note 4. We assure our customers that all Galaxy Note 4 units meet our strict manufacturing and quality control standards,” the statement read.
The junction isnt as tight as people might expect. You can see in the video below that its possible to slide thin paper into the gap, but the gravity of the situation might be a little overblown.
