We’ve already heard rumours that Samsung’s next flagship Galaxy smartphone will feature an entirely new design. Word on the street is that Samsung is starting from scratch with the S6, also known as Project Zero.
According to the latest reports, that could mean elements of the Galaxy Note Edge will make it into the Galaxy S6. Korean-language site the Korea Herald reports that the new Galaxy S6 will feature the same curved edge that we saw on the Galaxy Note Edge when it was announced in September of this year. However, the Galaxy S6 will apparently have this curved edge on both the left and right side of the device.
“The Galaxy S6 to be released next year will feature a ‘dual-edged’ screen which is curved on the right and left sides,” said Jerry Kang, senior analyst of IHD Technology, at the IHS Display Analyst Conference Thursday.
The company had been well aware of possible complaints about the curved display featured only on the right hand side of the Galaxy Note Edge before the release of the phablet, but the tech giant ditched the plan for the dual edges at the last minute for an unknown reason, according to the analyst.
“The dual edge is expected to be beneficial for Samsung Display, the main display supplier for the smartphone-maker, as larger displays bring more profit,” he said.
