Samsung has announced that they are consolidating Gear Apps store with Galaxy Apps store and users of Samsung Gear can download stylish watch faces and useful apps from Galaxy Apps store. They are also in the process of rolling out update that puts the Gear store inside Galaxy Apps.
Galaxy Apps is a store that features entertainment, gaming and productivity-boosting applications for the smart devices of Samsung Electronics. Following the integration, it will also boast a curated section of apps designed exclusively for Samsung’s Gear products.
The Samsung Gear app will still be a separate app but will only function as a hub for connected smartwatches (and fitness trackers like the Gear Fit) and will take users to Galaxy Apps for app and other downloads.
As such, Gear users can browse customized watch faces, health trackers, and information streams directly from Galaxy Apps via the Gear tab.
Samsung also says that the new consolidate store will offer an improved search function and aims to provide a better, more seamless experience for both smart device and wearable device users. You can also look at gear applications previews via Galaxy Apps. This integration is also very helpful as users can manage and update apps on both devices though the My Apps menu.
In addition to this, Samsung is offering a few Gear S2 watch faces available for free to celebrate the new integration. So, next time when you open the Galaxy Apps store on your phone or tablet, an update notification will pop up, after which you will be able to access the Gear content through one of the tabs on the Galaxy Apps home screen.
