Last week, we told you that Samsung’s Galaxy Note 3, Note 4, S4, and S5 LTE-A would all be updated to Android 5.0 Lollipop early next year. Now, we have details on when the Galaxy Note Edge and Galaxy Alpha are supposed to get the update.
According to Danny Dorresteijn, the founder of SamMobile (a reliable source when it comes to Samsung-related leaks), Note Edge owners should get Lollipop starting February. This is probably when the unlocked version of the Edge will be updated, as carrier versions usually get updates a bit later (at least in the US).
As for the ultra-thin Galaxy Alpha, this is expected to be updated to Lollipop sometime in the first quarter of 2015, so it should happen in March the latest. Dorresteijn mentions that updates for the Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy S4 are also expected to arrive in the first quarter – thus “early next year”, as previously reported.
Of course, nothing’s confirmed at this point, but we hope to have some official details soon.
The Galaxy S5 is already receiving an official update to Lollipop, though it seems that this is currently rolling out only in Europe and Asia.
