Oppo has announced that its new F1 Plus smartphone, which flaunts a 16-megapixel front camera for selfies, is now available for purchase in retail stores across Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Chennai for Rs. 26,990.
The F1 Plus smartphone is in fact the Oppo R9 that was launched in China in March, but has been re-branded for international markets. The phone features a 5.5-inch Full HD (1080×1920 pixels) AMOLED display, MediaTek Helio P10 (MT6755) SoC with eight Cortex A53 cores at 2.0GHz and a Mali-T860MP2 GPU, 4GB of RAM, 64GB storage, 13-megapixel rear camera, and a 16-megapixel front camera designed to make you the “selfie expert”. F1 Plus also comes with dual-SIM and features hybrid SIM slot, which means it also support expandable storage via microSD card (up to 128GB).
The Oppo R9 has a 2850mAh battery with support for VOOC flash charge that is claimed to offer up to 2 hours of talk time in just 5 minutes for charging. Connectivity options on the smartphone include 4G with VoLTE support, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS/ A-GPS, and Micro-USB.
The highlight of the Oppo F1 Plus is its 16-megapixel front camera, which features a 78.1-degree wide-angle lens and an f/2.0 aperture. On the rear, the Oppo F1 Plus sports a 13-megapixel camera with LED flash and an f/2.2 aperture. It features PDAF (phase detection autofocus) and 4K video recording. Unfortunately, there is no LED flash for the front camera, and it is a shame for a phone marketed for selfies experts.
The smartphone sports an obvious design similarity to the iPhone 6, and sports a fingerprint scanner on the home button right below the display. Oppo claims that the fingerprint scanner is fast enough to unlock the phone in just 0.2 seconds. On the software side, the device runs Color OS 3.0 on top of Android 5.1 Lollipop, which is looking stale at this point.
