Today, Verizon has released Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update for Samsung Note Pro 12.2 and Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 tablets. Aside from the Android update the Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 gets an improved version of Samsung Knox security suite, as well as Reactivation Lock which prompts user to log into Samsung account so that device protection can be enabled.
The Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 also gets Reactivation Lock aside from Lollipop, and it even gets a new Kids Mode, Download Booster and the improved version of the Knox security suite.
The update is being released in batches, so if you have not received the update, you will get it shortly. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 is receiving Android 5.1.1 Lollipop software version LMY47X.T337VVRU3BOH2 whereas the Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 will receive software version P905VVRUBOH1 from Verizon.
Here is how you can update your device to latest Android version.
This update comes when Android Marshmallow is just around the corner. Android Marshmallow is the moniker for Android 6.0 – the next major update from Google. Android 6.0 was announced earlier this year and Google is expected to reveal it in the coming weeks. We are likely to get a confirmed release date, at least for Nexus handsets, at Google’s event later this month.
