The cheaper those Xiaomis go, the more beautiful they get. Unconvinced? Here’s this alleged photo of the next-in-line Xiaomi flagship, tentatively called the Mi 5 or the Mi 4s. Take your pick now, or wait until January, as the rumor mill is assertive towards a CES 2015 announcement for whatever China’s #1 smartphone producer has in its cards.
Anyway, the smartphone we’re seeing is positively huge, with its display diagonal measuring between 5.5 and 6 inches. The design follows the path threaded by the Xiaomi Mi 4, but as you can see, the bezels here are thin to an extreme. We’re thrilled, but a little worried as well, because accidental drops could have a devastating effect here. Hopefully, case makers will invent sufficiently protective accessories for Xiaomi’s next.
Specs-wise, the rumor mill has been grinding an all-out sheet that includes a 2K display, a Snapdragon 810 processor, and 3GB of RAM. However, Qualcomm’s 64-bit octa-core beast won’t be available in handsets until 2015’s second quarter, so either Xiaomi will be showing off its new flagship and delaying it, or putting it out with a readily available processor such as the Snapdragon 805.
